Communication, student assets and strengths are identified and worker rights and responsibilities are discussed. In addition, students will collect data necessary for the development and designing of a resume, elements of a job application and interview skills. Practicum and employment sites are identified.

Information on OSHA and the "PA Right to Know Law" will be provided.

Into to Outdoor Maintenance for Persons Needing Learning Supports

This 75-hour course is for persons needing learning supports and includes an understanding of landscaping and grounds maintenance procedures used in the workplace. Occupational safety potential hazards and various materials used in the industry are discussed. Special emphasis is placed on endurance, work attitude and workplace safety. Students will address, discuss and implement new and updated industry concepts in regard to sustainability and "going green". Students will display appropriate work behaviors using the learned and defined skills.

Intro to Cleaning Services for Persons Needing Learning Supports

In this sixty hour course for persons needing learning supports, each student will develop knowledge concerning a series of basic types of shovels, pruning shears, cultivators, limbers, loppers, rakes, mowers, string trimmers, blowers and other types of gasoline powered tools. Emphasis will be placed on the proper use, care, storage and maintenance of these tools required in the grounds maintenance industry. Proper lifting as well as personal and co-worker safety is discussed and practiced.
