You will learn preferred meat cuts to use, grinds, casings and spice creations. Equipment and food safety will be covered along with cooking methods and proper storage. Baklava

Baklava is one of the world's great desserts that students can make at home once they conquer their fear of phyllo! In this hands-on class, each student will make their own sinfully rich version of baklava using pistachios while learning the proper ways to work with phyllo dough.


Beer Enthusiast 101

This is an introductory course in beer education designed for participants interested in furthering their knowledge of and interest in beer. Topics covered will include: historical overview of beer and brewing, globally and in the Pittsburgh region; brewing ingredients and processes; descriptions of common beer styles; pouring, serving, and tasting concepts; and food and beer pairings. Cake Decorating - Non-Credit Certificate Of Completion

Delight your family and friends with delicious, edible works of art or start a career as a professional cake decorator with a certificate of attendance in cake decorating from Community College of Allegheny County. This program provides participants with practical, hands-on training in cake decorating. Starting with the basics, students will learn the basics of frosting and smoothing a cake, adding borders, and making basic flowers. As students progress, they will work with butter cream and royal icings as well as fondant making more complicated edible cake decorations and character cakes. The final project will be a tiered wedding cake . Students must purchase all tools and supplies for these courses. A required tool and supply list will be provided at the first class session.
