Emergency Medical Technician

The EMT course prepares students with the knowledge and skills to provide basic level emergency care in the pre-hospital setting. This course is aligned with the National EMS Education Standards for EMT as approved by the PA DOH. Students will learn emergency care for cardiac arrest, medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, patient assessment techniques, oxygen administration and pharmacology for emergency care, and EMS Operations. Students must be able to meet all requirements of the Functional Position Description for EMT. The course will include classroom sessions and skill labs and requires a clinical rotation in a hospital or other approved facility. Students must complete the FEMA Independent Study Course for NIMS 100 and 700 online as a corequisite to this course. Students who successfully complete the course will be eligible for PA DOH certification exams for EMT. Saturday dates vary. Please call 412-788-7507 for more information.
