COMPETENCIES/SKILLS TO BE LEARNED 1.Recognize and correctly use commonly mixed-up words. 2.Form contractions and possessives and determine proper use. 3.Locate subjects and verbs and understand their place in sentence structure. 4.Spot sentence fragments and rework them into complete sentences. 5.Spot and correct run-on sentences. 6.Understand verb forms in simple and complex tenses. 7.Discover pronoun groups and forms. 8.Ensure agreement between subjects and verbs, pronouns and antecedents. 9.Maintain consistency in person, tense and structure. 10.Develop clear, concise and logical sentences. 11.Learn basic rules of capitalization and punctuation. 12.Review concepts and practice editing.
