Understanding Diversity in the Workplace

During this two-and-a-half-hour course, participants will gain an understanding of the dimensions of diversity and cultural constructs. Discussion will include an overview of the changing demographics nationally and regionally. Through s self-assessment, participants will gain insight into their own cultural viewpoints and how these attitudes impact their ability to interact with people of different cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. The importance of accepting individuals regardless of their race, culture, language, religious affiliation, gender, socio-economic background or physical challenges will be emphasized. Learning will be accomplished through traditional classroom lecture and discussion. The target audiences for this training are administrators, direct care professionals and other support staff in the human services field.
