Math for Union Trades Exams

This course will help those who desire a career in the construction/building trades (as an electrician, carpenter, plumber, steamfitter, sheet metal worker, iron worker, heavy equipment operator, etc.) prepare to solve math problems found on apprenticeship entrance exams. Course topics include reading a rule (16th, 8th and quarter inch); adding and subtracting fractions; converting fractions to decimals, and decimals to fractions; and converting between the various increments of inches, feet, yards and spatial relationships. Test-taking strategies and interviewing skills will also be discussed. Students will become familiar with exam formats through mock tests.
