Choosing a New Fly Rod

Looking to buy a new fly rod and don't know where to begin? This six-hour course takes the mystery out of purchasing your first fly rod or a new fly rod for a species of fish you don't usually target. The following topics will be discussed: fly rod length and line weight; materials fly rods are made from; fly rod "action"; and fly rod components. What species of fish do you want to catch? Where will you be fishing (small streams, large rivers, saltwater flats)? Will you travel with the rod? And, of course, how much do you want to spend? Fly casting, the most important aspect of fly fishing, will be demonstrated. You will have an opportunity to cast various rods in different lengths, actions, and line weights.
