Disaster Preparedness for Mh/I&dd Facilities
This three hour course will provide an overview for preparing residential facilities in the event of a disaster. It will increase awareness and provide guidance for MH/IDD personnel who either help create a disaster plan or would be responsible for carrying it out. The elements may supplement or enhance any written emergency plans and procedures already in place. Topics include arrangements for travel; provision of supplies, transport of records, medications and belongings; agreement for host facility; and reentry to facility after evacuation. Participants are encourged to bring their facilities current plan to the workshop.
