Color Theory for Painters
Learn the basics of color theory and color mixing through a series of lectures and hands-on exercises with paint (gouache and opaque water medium). You will learn about and experiment with color interactions, color harmonies, and color contrasts. Students should bring to class Gouache: black, white, flame red, bengal rose, spectrum yellow, ultramarine blue, and phthalocyanine blue, a variety of flat and round brushes (suitable for watercolor); palette with wells for mixing, 11" x 14" sketchbook, metal ruler, pencil, eraser, paper towels, water receptacle, x-acto knife, rubber cement or glue sticks.
